Travis Taylor is an aerospace engineer and physicist with doctorates in optical science and aerospace systems engineering who worked for Army and Air Force programmes and for defence contractors. He has appeared since 2020 on the History Channel series The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch as its lead scientist, and in 2021 he said he had served as chief scientist of the Pentagon's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force from 2019 while the series was in production.
His credentials and his task-force role have been confirmed in press reporting. The measurements shown on the series, including radiation readings and instrument anomalies, are presented on television rather than in papers, and sceptics have noted that the format rewards unexplained results. Taylor has said he does not know what causes them.
