Barr served with a combat defense squadron at Vandenberg and says that in September 1964, on guard at a missile site, he saw a figure in fog, lost feeling in his arm and cannot account for several hours. He first wrote to Robert Salas; Robert Hastings says he checked Barr's discharge papers. The encounter itself is uncorroborated.
