Brazel, foreman of the Foster ranch, collected debris scattered across a pasture and reported it to the Chaves County sheriff on 6 or 7 July 1947, which led to the Roswell Army Air Field press release. Newspaper interviews from the following days record his description of foil, tape and sticks. He died in 1963.
