Zabel, a former CNN correspondent, created Dark Skies with Brent Friedman and chaired the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. With Richard Dolan he wrote A.D. After Disclosure (2010) on what would follow an official admission. On the channel in 2026 he recounts a studio's claim to own the Men in Black idea and traces the motif to the 1950s.
