Travis Walton

Travis Walton was a logger in a forestry crew near Snowflake, Arizona. On 5 November 1975 his six crewmates said they saw him approach a glowing disc in a clearing, be struck by a beam of light, and that they fled; he was missing for five days and reappeared saying he had woken aboard a craft among small beings and later humanoid figures. The case was investigated by the sheriff's office, the National Enquirer and APRO, and Walton's book Fire in the Sky (1978) became a 1993 film.

The crew's account is unusual in having six witnesses who passed polygraph examinations in 1975, though Walton himself failed one test and passed later ones, and the sceptic Philip Klass argued the group had a motive in a logging contract they could not finish. Walton has maintained his account for fifty years and has said he is not sure what the beings were. No physical evidence was recovered from the clearing.
