AFOSI agent Richard Doty then fed Bennewitz disinformation for years. Corpus episodes recount how the operation drove Bennewitz to breakdown.

What was reported. An AFOSI form dated August 1980 records three security policemen seeing a bright light land in the Coyote Canyon area near the Manzano nuclear storage site, and an alarm at a structure there. Bennewitz, whose home overlooked the base, filmed lights and believed he was intercepting alien signals. (FACT about the documents and testimony.)
What followed. AFOSI counter-intelligence officer Richard Doty befriended Bennewitz and, with researcher William Moore, fed him fabricated documents and stories about an underground base at Dulce; Bennewitz was hospitalised in 1988. Doty later admitted the operation. (FACT.)
What the corpus adds. Greg Bishop, author of Project Beta, describes Bennewitz living and working around Kirtland in the late 1970s and the people who knew him. Other episodes summarize how Doty convinced Bennewitz he was in touch with aliens, and note that Doty appears in later debriefs. (FACT about testimony.)
Explanations offered. A real cover for classified programs at the base, a genuine sighting series that the Air Force exploited, or nothing more than a paranoid man and a counter-intelligence exercise; the corpus favors the view that prosaic technology and UFOs were used as covers for each other.
