Steven Greer is an emergency physician who founded the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence in 1990 and the Disclosure Project in 1993. In May 2001 he assembled about twenty witnesses at the National Press Club, among them Air Force and FAA veterans, whose statements remain a reference point for later campaigns. He has produced several documentaries and teaches a method he calls CE-5, in which groups attempt to invite contact by meditation.
The 2001 event and its witness statements are documented, and a number of the witnesses have repeated their accounts elsewhere. Greer's own claims go much further: that he has briefed a CIA director and a sitting president, that a cabal outside government controls the technology, that many reported craft are human-made and that other whistleblowers are part of a managed disclosure. He offers no documents for these, and many researchers who share his interest in disclosure keep their distance.
